The first thing to know
about Vilnius in 2002 is to forget what three to four year old guidebooks
tell you. (This is not to downplay the usefulness of Lonely Planet
phrasebooks and guidebooks!) The Old Town is clean and pretty and undergoing a lot of renovation, and you really don't
need to bring along your own toilet paper.
