Don smiles on our first anniversary, at Promontory Point. I'm a lucky woman.
	My best friend Julie flew here from New York for a conference. Here she exudes big-city style after chowing down on Chicago hot dogs with us.
Our first trip of the year was to the Upper Penninsula of Michigan (in five years of living in Michigan, I never got further north than Ann Arbor). We stayed at the Pinewood Lodge outside of AuTrain - our series of photos out the window of our vacation lodgings continues above. Yes, we were only steps from Lake Superior in all its 45 F glory.
	The AuTrain area has lots of waterfalls. I'm standing near Munising Falls in a shirt that I appear to like. Below are pictures of Laughing Whitefish Falls from the top and bottom. The Munising area is a fantastic place to go for beautiful scenery, a pleasant lack of people, and, of course, whitefish!
