2007 - Central New Mexico

Yep, the siren song of New Mexico sounded again this winter, but we had some very specific things we wanted to see.

One of the main reasons we went was to see Deer Canyon Preserve. We were both assuming that it would turn out to be way too expensive for us, but its not (although it's not cheap, either!). Now we just have to decide if that's where we want to live in the future...

We also got to Bosque del Apache to see a sunset fly-in. We only saw sandhill cranes and ducks, but we certainly heard the snow geese! I've been telling Don about this since my first visit to New Mexico, but this was the first time we were both there before the birds migrated back north. He took some spectacular photos!

We splurged a bit on this trip and stayed at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort at the Santa Ana Pueblo outside of Bernalillo. It was very plush, and the folks there were way more attentive than I'm used to! We took full advantage of being at a resort.
